"A vibrant, nourishing story of food and identity. Takeaway is a deeply generous memoir, with Hui offering up personal anecdotes and covert family recipes to nourish the reader – not unlike how Lucky Star fed her, and an entire Welsh village." - i news

"Takeaway is a personal history, compellingly told, but it also tells a universal story." - The Spectator

"No reader will take their favourite takeaway for granted again." - The Times

"Takeaway feels familiar, in the sense that the author invites the reader into her home to watch her grow up amid the bulbous jade plants and waving lucky cats of the shop, with the good, bad, and ugly all on display." - Asian Review of Books
